Betting on Myself

In April 2016, as a junior in high school, I attended my first-ever financial literacy series — and it changed everything for me.

At the time, I had a basic budget and understood concepts like interest rates and compound interest. But that IMF and Serve Your City series introduced me to a whole new world: loan amortization, stocks and bonds, the SEC, even accounting. It was my first real exposure to the systems that shape our financial lives — and I was hooked!

As I approached adulthood and faced big financial decisions — credit cards, auto loans, student debt, apartment leases — I realized just how much young adults are expected to figure out on their own. I didn’t want to be in the dark. I wanted to understand the mechanics of money — and use that knowledge to make better decisions.

That desire led me to study Accounting at North Carolina A&T State University, where I learned why accounting is called “The Language of Business.” I discovered that accounting was more than math — it was strategy, insight, and powerful knowledge. Accounting gives me a lens to understand how individuals and businesses operate, and their cash flows paint the picture of their priorities and financial goals.

Most importantly, it helped me see what was missing for myself and so many others.

Too often, it’s a lack of financial literacy that holds young professionals and entrepreneurs back from pursuing their dreams. Mismanaging income, failing to track expenses, or missing tax deadlines isn’t just a minor hiccup — it can mean the difference between growth and burnout. Between thriving and surviving.

That’s why I founded Carson Creative Solutions — to give people the tools, support, and strategy they need to make confident financial decisions and move toward the life they envision.

Because financial empowerment isn’t just about numbers — it’s about freedom, opportunity, and peace of mind.
